The history of the long-running Israeli-Arab conflict is a convoluted mess that cannot be easily explained in one post. Over the decades both sides have exhibited intractable stupidity with plenty of blame to go around to all parties concerned. However, from the very beginning of its existence the Arab nations and the Palestinians have largely refused to accept Israel's right to exist. First they rejected the 1947 UN Partition Plan that would have created both an Arab state and a Jewish state out of Palestine. Then they launched a succession of wars against Israel. The losers were the Palestinian people. In the intervening years, the Arab nations refused to allow Palestinian refugees to assimilate into their populations. Arab leaders preferred the Palestinians to languish in the squalor of refugee camps to keep the fires of hatred burning against Israel. The truth is that the Arab nations have been responsible for the majority of destruction and misery heaped upon the Palestinians.

Whether the Arab world likes it or not, the state of Israel exists and it's not going away. The delusional morons of Hamas and Hezbollah don't seem to fathom the fact that any major attempt to wipe Israel off the face of the earth is going to result in a nuclear holocaust for the entire Middle East. Cheered on in large part by Syria and Iran, these idiots continue to kill Israeli civilians. When it looks like peace is finally on the horizon, the Palestinians and their terrorist support groups launch suicide bombings and rocket attacks against the Israeli populace. Israel naturally retaliates. Then the Palestinians in Gaza do something really stupid like elect the leaders of Hamas to run their government. This is an organization that has vowed to destroy Israel.

When it's all said and done, only a pea-brained imbecile would expect Israel to relinquish control of Gaza's borders and ports to these terrorists. Until the Palestinians decide they will peacefully co-exist alongside Israel, there will be no end to their miserable situation. In the meantime, Israel has every right to defend itself. For every rocket Hamas launches into Israel, the Israelis should reciprocate by dropping a bomb on Gaza. The Palestinians of Gaza brought Hamas into power, so they can hardly claim to be innocent victims.
